PARIS’ HIDDEN TREASURES TOUR – 12K

The Hidden Treasures tour begins at the Place de la Bastille, where the infamous prison once stood. Now dominated by the July Column commemorating the revolution of 1830, this area is a perfect example of a changing Paris, recently re-developed to promote walking and cycling as the city’s preferred modes of transport. Our guide will then lead you northeast, explaining the history of Paris’ canal system (it’s more extensive than you think). We’ll jog along the Canal Saint-Martin and Canal de l’Ourcq, where crowds of people gather to soak up the summer sun. The tour will then continue into the 19^th arrondissement Parc des Buttes-Chaumont, with its Temple de la Sibylle, perched at the top of a cliff fifty meters above the waters of an artificial lake. This vantage point provides beautiful views of the Sacré-Coeur to the west. The final stretch will take us through the fast paced and culturally diverse neighborhoods of Belleville and Goncourt, where runners’ senses will be awakened by a kaleidoscope of vibrant sights and enticing aromas.
