This is the ideal tour for those wishing to explore Paris’ lesser-known (but still just as interesting and beautiful) sights. If you’ve already been past the Eiffel Tower, Louvre and Notre Dame, and are yearning to learn more about the French capital, this is the tour for you.
The Hidden Treasures tour begins at the Place de la Bastille, where the infamous prison once stood. Now dominated by the July Column commemorating the revolution of 1830, this area is a perfect example of a changing Paris, recently re-developed to promote walking and cycling as the city’s preferred modes of transport. Our guide will then lead you northeast, explaining the history of Paris’ canal system (it’s more extensive than you think). We’ll jog along the Canal Saint-Martin and Canal de l’Ourcq, where crowds of people gather to soak up the summer sun. The canals weave through this section of the city, offering picturesque waterfront promenades, charming bridges, and a sense of tranquility amidst the bustling urban landscape. Adding to the unique and dynamic atmosphere of this neighborhood, your gaze will be drawn to the vibrant murals and thought-provoking graffiti adorning the walls.
We’ll then enter Paris’ enormous Parc de la Villette, where runners will get a glimpse of the architecturally striking Paris Philharmonic. Designed by famous French architect Jean Nouvel and opened in 2015, the Philharmonic is truly a sight to see. The tour will then continue into the 19th arrondissement Parc des Buttes-Chaumont, with its Temple de la Sibylle, perched at the top of a cliff fifty meters above the waters of an artificial lake. This vantage point provides beautiful views of the Sacré-Coeur to the west. The final stretch will take us through the fast paced and culturally diverse neighborhoods of Belleville and Goncourt, where runners’ senses will be awakened by a kaleidoscope of vibrant sights and enticing aromas.
This 12k street and park tour provides the perfect opportunity to see another side of Paris and get an “authentic” feel for the city. Get ready to see the sights not listed in guidebooks and on the Internet. We can’t wait to show you!
